What it means
Since 1990, the payroll of Cape Cod employers has grown by 71 percent in real terms (adjusted for inflation). Growth was very strong during the 1990s for both Barnstable County and the state. The county continued to grow until the recession hit in the mid-2000s and the decline began to mirror the state. Overall, however, this data shows the positive impact of job growth for both the state and county over the past two decades.
